  • Volunteer Service: 2011

    Genieve Shelter in Mobile, AL provides shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The organization received a $40,000 grant from the W.H.O. Foundation. Funding will be used to provide a multitude of services needed for their clients.
       
    Molly's House in Stuart, FL provides temporary housing for families who have a loved one experiencing an extended hospital stay. The $20,000 W.H.O. grant will help make necessary updates in Molly's House and also support the Adopt-A-Family program.
       
    The Randolph County Family Crisis Center in Asheboro, NC serves people in crisis from domestic and family violence, sexual assault and rape. The W.H.O. Foundation awarded them a $20,000 grant to help with the construction of a much-needed new kitchen for the shelter.
       
    The Walker Foundation in Spartanburg, SC provides resources for the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. They received a $26,500 grant from the W.H.O. Foundation to help provide more updated equipment to accommodate the visual and hearing challenges of the students who live there.
       
    Harbor, Inc. in Smithville, NC provides help, hope and safety to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The W.H.O. Foundation awarded them a $20,000 grant to purchase a van to transport women and children who are seeking safety and support at the shelter.
       
    Low-income elderly and disabled homeowners receive much-needed home repairs from Rebuilding Together San Diego to make their homes warm, safe and dry. The W.H.O. Foundation awarded the organization a $3000 grant to help the program provide these services for this population.
       
    In Upland, CA, Steven's Hope for Children provides housing and other essential needs for low-income families of a seriously ill or injured child. The $4,800 grant from the W.H.O. Foundation will help provide clothing for these children.
       
    El Hogar Albergue para Niños Jesús de Nazaret, Inc. in Mayaguez, PR provides shelter and care to children who are victims of family violence. The W.H.O. Foundation awarded them a grant in the amount of $38,750 which will help fund remodeling as well as purchase new playground equipment, computers, bunk beds and mattresses.
       
    The W.H.O. Foundation awarded a $40,000 grant to Hogar Nueva Mujer Santa Maria de la Merced in Cayey, PR. The organization provides shelter and counseling to mothers and their children who are victims of domestic and family violence and the funds will support the construction of four additional rooms for their Emergency Shelter.
